It recognizes the rights of every person without distinction of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or any other opinion. After WW 2 world leaders decided to sit down to negotiate and work on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The United Nations (UN) approved it on December 10, 1948, three years after the end of the war. The document sets out the fundamental rights of all people in the world, regardless of their background, gender and social class. The text would not have been possible without the leadership of a woman, the politician and activist, Eleanor Roosevelt.
