1789

The March on Versailles was an event that took place between 5 and 6 October 1789 at the Palace of Versailles (France) as part of the French Revolution. The event began among the market women of Paris who, on the morning of October 5, 1789, were protesting against the high price and scarcity of bread and the lack of rights. Moreover, during the revolutionary period there was a defence of a series of “traditional” values (honour, modesty. . . ). Once the revolution was more or less consolidated, between 10 and 19 September 1791, women were established as second-class citizens.
