1908

On March 8, 1908, 130 women workers in a New York textile factory went on strike and demanded in the streets an 8-hour work day, the abolition of child labor and equal suffrage for women. A serious fire, set by the factory owner and the police, burned the factory and some of the remaining workers inside.

Nowadays, March 8th has become the international women’s day. The purpose of commemorating the date is to reflect on the living and working conditions of women around the world, and to create new trends to improve rights and other injustices.

We have explained why the violet colour is the representative colour of feminism. Take a look!
